We’re working with a high-growth AI company building the next generation of applied AI products for large enterprise customers.
They’re hiring a Head of AI Engineering to lead a new incubation team focused on developing and scaling agent-driven products from 0 ? 1.
This is a true player-coach role, combining hands-on technical work with team building and leadership.
Toronto-based. Remote initially, moving onsite.
The role
- Define and execute AI engineering strategy alongside founders
- Build and lead a high-performing AI engineering team
- Design and scale ML systems from research through to production
- Develop and launch agent-based applications in real-world environments
- Own infrastructure for training, deployment, and monitoring
- Partner with product and business teams to ship impactful features
What you’ll bring
- Strong backend engineering foundation with ML/AI experience
- Experience leading and growing AI/ML teams
- Hands-on experience training and deploying models at scale
- Deep understanding of agentic systems and orchestration
- Experience building production-grade ML pipelines and infrastructure
- Strong technical leadership and ability to mentor teams
Nice to have
- Experience with modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.)
- Background in large-scale data systems
- Experience working closely with founders or senior leadership
