Description

Lead the U.S. Build-Out of a Next-Gen Manufacturing SaaS Platform

U.S. Engineering Lead | Remote-First (U.S.) | $250K–$400K Base

Why This Role Exists

A fast-scaling, venture-backed B2B SaaS company is bringing its cloud platform — already trusted across 14 countries for managing manufacturing drawing data — into the United States. The next frontier: defense and aerospace. That means a brand-new product line, built from zero, engineered to clear ITAR, FedRAMP, and CMMC from the start.

Someone needs to lead that build. That's you.

What Makes This Different

Most "lead" titles come with an existing codebase and someone else's tech debt. Not this one. You're inheriting a validated product concept — the roadmap, features, and UX have already been proven overseas — but the entire U.S. technical foundation is yours to create: the architecture, the security model, the compliance program, and the team that will run it all for years to come.

Day to Day, You'll:

Stand up the infrastructure. Architect and operate a secure, compliant environment from the ground up — covering ITAR, FedRAMP, and CMMC — for a product that doesn't exist yet in the U.S. market.

Translate proven design into compliant code. Take workflows already validated abroad and rebuild them faithfully within the new, secure architecture.

Grow a team that lasts. Recruit and develop U.S.-based engineers, with an eye toward knowledge retention and long-term technical stewardship — not just headcount.

Keep two continents in sync. Serve as the engineering counterpart to an international product organization, turning specs into shipped work and closing the feedback loop in both directions.

Get in the room with customers. Sit down directly with defense primes and their suppliers to understand what security and deployment requirements actually look like in practice.

Non-Negotiables

  • You're a U.S. citizen or green card holder (ITAR requires it)
  • 5+ years building backend, infrastructure, or security systems, with real depth in AWS
  • 3+ years where compliance ownership (ITAR, FedRAMP, or CMMC) was actually your job, not a side responsibility
  • You've shipped secure systems against someone else's spec, inside a distributed or multi-region org, and made it work
  • You're looking to plant roots — not pass through on your way to the next thing

Nice Additions (Not Required)

  • Comfortable being near a Midwest U.S. hub for occasional in-person collaboration (the role itself is remote-first)
  • Have worked across a language/culture gap with an Asia-based headquarters before
  • Know your way around manufacturing, industrial tech, or the defense/aerospace world

The Package

  • $250,000–$400,000 base salary
  • Remote-first, U.S.-based, with hub access when you want it
  • Full medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)

Ground-floor roles like this don't come around often — the chance to define the architecture and the team from scratch, backed by a product that's already proven itself elsewhere.
