Software Engineer, Backend
(Seed stage, Marketplace, Brooklyn)

We’re working with a fast-growing, early-stage marketplace company building the infrastructure behind high-volume, real-time transactions.
They’re hiring a Backend Engineer to help scale core systems that power a large and growing volume of activity.

This is a high-impact role in a ~15 person team, ideal for someone who enjoys owning systems end-to-end and working close to product.

NYC-based, in-person.

The role
  • Build and scale backend systems handling real-time transactions
  • Design reliable, low-latency services and APIs
  • Improve performance, observability, and system resilience
  • Contribute to architecture and technical direction
  • Work closely with product to ship quickly and iterate

What you’ll bring
  • Experience building and scaling production backend systems
  • Strong fundamentals in system design and distributed systems
  • Experience with Python (Django or similar frameworks)
  • Comfortable working with APIs, databases, and event-driven systems
  • Product mindset, you care about what gets shipped and why

Nice to have
  • Experience in marketplaces, fintech, or high-throughput systems
  • Familiarity with AWS and modern DevOps tooling
  • Exposure to pricing, recommendation, or real-time systems
