Description

AI Strategist
AI consultancy (private equity & credit)
New York (4 days onsite)

An early-stage data and AI consultancy working with private equity and credit funds on things like fundraising, deal origination, diligence and portfolio management. Funds know they need to do something with AI but rarely know where to start, and this company helps them get from vague interest to real, working solutions. Small team, direct line to the founder.

What you'll do

  • Turn early client curiosity into concrete pilot or advisory engagements, working closely with the founder

  • Lead discovery conversations that unpack a fund's workflows, pain points and objectives

  • Build simple, credible business cases and ROI narratives that land with PE and credit teams

  • Scope, structure and help close advisory or pilot work

  • Run workshops, roadmap sessions and workflow deep-dives once engagements start

  • Translate business problems into clear technical opportunities alongside the engineering team

  • Move fluidly between selling, advising and delivering depending on what the week needs

  • Help shape how the firm positions itself and build repeatable patterns across client work

What we're looking for

  • 4-8 years across private capital, applied AI or consulting

  • Solid grasp of how PE and credit funds actually operate day to day

  • Genuinely curious about AI, comfortable tinkering with tools like Claude Code or n8n

  • Able to turn a messy, half-formed idea into a real path forward

  • Commercially minded, comfortable building relationships and closing work

  • Proactive and scrappy, happy wearing multiple hats without perfect instructions

  • Wants real influence over where the company goes, not just a process to follow

Why join?

  • Build a consulting practice from the ground up, with real ownership

  • Work directly alongside the founder shaping the company's direction

  • High-impact role at the intersection of business and engineering
