WHAT YOU'LL DO

At BCG Platinion | MAYA Design, we’re bringing design to the front line of business challenges and creating work that solves problems in novel, feasible, and desirable ways. We can’t do that without world-class UI Designers—designers who care about people and their needs, and can use that empathy to create beautiful, engaging products and services for them.

We’ve outlined a typical designer skill set below. But that doesn’t mean that’s the only role we’re looking for. If you’re a designer that can animate a story, or you’re just as comfortable in code as you are in Sketch, or you’re an amazing researcher that dabbles in interface design, or you possess some other combo of valuable skills, please let us know. We don’t pretend to have a narrow definition of UI design, and neither should you.
 
Now, we also hire UX Researchers, UX Designers, and Visual Designers. But that’s not what this role is focused on. We are looking for someone passionate about owning every detail of the UI for digital products – from interactions and motion to fonts and grids – and thinks in terms of design systems. If you’re more into ethnography or information architecture, or you don’t care about the difference between Verlag and Verdana, check out our other listings (or wait for the right one), because this isn’t quite right for you.
 
 

UI Designers at BCG Platinion | MAYA Design are:

• Flexible and user-focused. Ability to design in multiple mediums and levels of interactivity, all while employing appropriate human-centered design methods.
• Visually exceptional. Highly skilled in creating and critiquing, because you believe that emotion and beauty matter every bit as much as usability.
• Iterative. Excited to prototype at all levels of fidelity—and the humility to walk away from ideas when they fail.
• Collaborative. Ability and enthusiasm to work with researchers, engineers, business consultants, and other designers who will all challenge and support you.
• Communicators. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, and the ability to provide the rationale behind your design decisions to colleagues and clients.
• Empathetic. A desire to truly understand humans and their behavior—and turn complex tasks into intuitive easy-to-use solutions.
• Architectural thinkers. Not only able to understand and visualize complex systems, but work with engineers and systems architects to design solutions that will last.
• Comfortable with ambiguity. Projects and businesses move fast. That means the path forward isn’t always well-defined about what to make, who to ask, or what success means. Being comfortable and collaborative through this process is key.

Responsibilities
 

At BCG Platinion | MAYA Design you will:

• Work with clients and brands that cross domains and industries.
• Design and prototype digital products—websites, apps, and beyond—at all levels of fidelity.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, business consultants, and other designers to create world-class work without ego.
• Conduct user research and communicate findings—and translate insights into great new experiences.
• Envision new, novel experiences beyond what is expected—pushing the envelope beyond screens towards the edge of interaction and technology.
• Broaden your skill set beyond your core abilities—whether that means into project management, client relationships, or technological skills, you will have the chance to try new things.
• Travel around the globe to work with clients and BCG teams. At times, this role involves significant travel to client sites. The amount of travel will depend on client needs and nature of projects.

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

Requirements
 

• At least 2+ years in a UI design role.
• An outstanding portfolio of work demonstrating strong human-centered design capabilities across a diverse range of projects.
• Expert knowledge with at least 3 of the following tools or technologies:
       -Sketch
       -InVision
       -Principle, Framer, or other similar prototyping tools
       -HTML & CSS
       -JavaScript
       -InDesign
       -AfterEffects
   
• Bonus points for candidates with the following skills:
       -Facilitation
       -Project management
       -Animation
       -Illustration
       -Print design
       -Branding & identity
