Description
Join a large, globally established financial markets organisation operating in a complex, highly regulated environment. The business is investing in modernising its technology platforms and developing new digital services to support long-term growth, operational efficiency and innovation.
Role
Take on a high-impact engineering role supporting the development and modernisation of strategically important technology platforms and digital services. You will work across frontend, backend, data and infrastructure, partnering with business teams, technology specialists and external vendors.
- Design, build and improve secure, reliable and maintainable applications.
- Develop backend services and APIs using modern engineering practices.
- Help create intuitive browser-based tools for internal and external users.
- Translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
- Contribute to solution design, implementation, deployment, testing and production support.
- Use automated testing, peer review, continuous delivery and clear documentation to maintain quality.
- Improve monitoring, logging, diagnostics and service reliability.
- Support team leadership, mentor colleagues and deputise for the technology lead when required.
Essential:
- Significant experience delivering production-grade software in a senior engineering role.
- Strong Java development experience, including backend applications and APIs.
- Full-stack engineering knowledge across applications, data and infrastructure.
- Experience with service-based architecture, API design, system integration and modern web applications.
- Strong knowledge of automated testing, version control, continuous integration and deployment, release management and production support.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Strong Linux administration and scripting skills.
- Understanding of monitoring, logging, observability and reliable service design.
- Experience working in financial services or another complex, regulated environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership and stakeholder communication skills, including engagement with senior executives.
- A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with .NET and Python.
- Experience modernising established applications and platforms.
- Knowledge of Terraform and Helm.
- Familiarity with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or Splunk.
- Experience leading agile, cross-functional engineering teams.
