Description

Senior Director / VP, Business Development

Austin, TX | In-Office Leadership Role

Build the Pipeline Engine Behind a High-Growth Cybersecurity Company

This is an opportunity to join a high-growth, venture-backed cybersecurity company at a pivotal stage of its journey and play a major role in building the revenue engine that comes next.

The company is developing an AI-powered platform designed to help organizations defend against some of the fastest-growing threats in cybersecurity, including impersonation, fraud, phishing, and social engineering.

As the business continues to scale across the enterprise market, they are looking for a Senior Director / VP of Business Development to build and lead the next generation of their pipeline-generation organization.

Reporting directly to the CRO, you'll own the strategy, team, and operating model behind outbound prospecting, inbound qualification, lead nurturing, and pipeline creation across Mid-Market and Enterprise.

This isn't a role where you're simply inheriting an SDR team and managing activity metrics. You'll have the opportunity to shape how modern business development is done, combining exceptional people, data, AI, automation, intent signals, and highly personalized enterprise outreach.

What You'll Own

Build & Lead the BD Organization

  • Lead and scale the Business Development organization across Mid-Market and Enterprise.
  • Set the strategy, structure, targets, and operating cadence for the team.
  • Build a high-performance culture centered around accountability, coaching, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional BD leaders and individual contributors.
  • Create clear career paths and development programs that attract and retain top talent.

Own Pipeline Generation

  • Take ownership of pipeline-generation strategy, targets, coverage, and performance.
  • Build sophisticated outbound and account-based prospecting motions.
  • Develop high-velocity inbound processes covering lead response, qualification, routing, and conversion.
  • Build lead-nurture strategies that turn early engagement into qualified opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Sales leadership and Account Executives to improve handoffs and pipeline conversion.
  • Continuously refine messaging and prospecting strategies for senior enterprise buyers.

Build the AI-First BD Function

  • Help define what the modern Business Development organization looks like in an AI-first world.
  • Identify and implement AI tools that improve prospecting, research, personalization, prioritization, and productivity.
  • Leverage intent data, buying signals, enrichment, automation, and AI-assisted workflows to make the team more effective.
  • Build scalable systems that combine automation with thoughtful, highly personalized enterprise engagement.
  • Continuously experiment with new technologies and approaches to increase pipeline efficiency and conversion.

Bring Operational Rigor

  • Establish the KPIs, reporting, forecasting, and performance frameworks needed to run a world-class pipeline organization.
  • Use funnel data to identify bottlenecks and improve conversion at every stage.
  • Partner with RevOps, Marketing, Product Marketing, Sales Enablement, and Sales leadership to align targeting, messaging, campaigns, and pipeline goals.
  • Build repeatable processes that can scale alongside the broader commercial organization.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a modern revenue leader, not simply an experienced SDR manager.

You'll ideally bring:

  • 10+ years across Business Development, Sales Development, Pipeline Generation, or broader revenue leadership.
  • Experience leading and scaling BD/SDR organizations within high-growth B2B SaaS, cybersecurity, or another complex enterprise technology environment.
  • A track record of building predictable, repeatable pipeline-generation engines.
  • Experience managing teams selling into Mid-Market and Enterprise accounts.
  • Strong understanding of account-based prospecting and enterprise sales development.
  • Experience owning pipeline targets, coverage, forecasting, and funnel performance.
  • A genuine interest in how AI is changing prospecting, sales development, and revenue generation.
  • Experience implementing AI-powered sales tools, automation, intent data, enrichment, or modern sales engagement platforms.
  • A highly analytical, metrics-driven approach to leadership.
  • The ability to move between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
  • A strong track record of recruiting, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent cross-functional and executive communication skills.
  • The energy and adaptability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.

Bonus Points

  • Cybersecurity, enterprise SaaS, fraud prevention, threat intelligence, or adjacent experience.
  • Experience scaling a venture-backed company through a significant growth phase.
  • Experience building an in-office BD or inside sales organization.
  • Familiarity with enterprise security buyers and complex Fortune 500 sales cycles.
  • Experience transforming a traditional SDR/BDR function into a more sophisticated, data- and technology-led organization.

Why This Role?

Real ownership. You'll have direct influence over the strategy, structure, technology, and people behind a critical part of the company's growth engine.

Executive visibility. Reporting directly to the CRO, you'll be a key member of the commercial leadership team.

Build, don't just manage. This is an opportunity to create the next iteration of Business Development rather than simply inherit an established playbook.

AI at the centre. The company is actively thinking about how AI can fundamentally change the way revenue teams prospect, qualify, and create pipeline, and you'll be one of the people defining that approach.

Big market, big opportunity. You'll be joining a rapidly growing cybersecurity business tackling a significant and increasingly important problem for enterprise organizations.

Austin-based. This is an in-office leadership position designed for someone who enjoys building teams, collaborating closely with senior leadership, and operating with high velocity.

If you're excited by the idea of building a genuinely modern pipeline-generation organization and want a seat at the table while the company scales, this is a role worth exploring.
