Compensation: $100-$120k base, uncapped commission, top performers making well over $250k
Overview
A growing wealth management firm operating within a family office-style structure is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney. The firm provides an integrated planning approach that combines estate strategy, retirement income planning, tax considerations, and investment management into a cohesive client experience.
This role is ideal for an attorney looking to expand beyond traditional legal responsibilities and play a key role in a collaborative, client-centric environment. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with financial professionals and directly influence both planning strategy and implementation.
Role Summary
This is a highly client-facing, performance-driven position.
The Estate Planning Attorney will lead estate planning discussions, present in recurring educational seminars, and partner with financial advisors to support implementation across trust structures and broader financial strategies. The role involves consistent interaction with clients and requires strong communication skills, the ability to guide decisions, and a focus on moving clients from planning into execution.
Key Responsibilities
Estate Planning and Strategy
- Develop and present comprehensive estate planning strategies, including revocable and irrevocable trust structures
- Position estate planning as a core component of overall financial and legacy planning
- Align legal recommendations with broader financial and investment strategies
Client Engagement and Implementation
- Lead and participate in client meetings on a regular basis
- Serve as a key contributor in planning conversations and guide clients toward implementation
- Collaborate with financial advisors to support execution of recommended strategies
- Assist in transitioning planning recommendations into implemented solutions
Seminars and Business Development
- Deliver estate and retirement planning seminars on a consistent basis
- Present complex concepts in a clear, engaging, and persuasive manner
- Build relationships with attendees and convert interest into planning opportunities
Integrated Team Collaboration
- Work closely with financial advisors to provide a unified client experience
- Support advisors in advancing client cases and strengthening relationships
- Operate within a coordinated planning model that integrates legal, financial, and tax strategies
Qualifications
- Active license and in good standing with a state bar (New Jersey strongly preferred)
- Significant experience drafting estate planning documents, including trusts
- Demonstrated ability to lead client conversations with confidence and clarity
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex strategies
- Experience in a client-facing environment with a track record of influencing outcomes
- Prior experience presenting to groups or willingness to develop into a seminar speaker
- Comfortable leading recurring seminars as part of the role
- Securities and/or insurance licenses are not required at the outset; support is provided for obtaining licenses within a defined onboarding period
- Willingness to work across multiple office locations as needed

Compensation & Opportunity
This position offers a base salary combined with performance-based incentives tied to estate planning production and overall contribution to client implementation.
Compensation includes revenue generated from legal services, along with additional earning potential through collaboration on broader financial strategies. The structure is designed to reward professionals who can effectively deliver planning services, guide clients through decision-making, and contribute to successful execution.

Location
Multiple office locations across Central New Jersey, with regular in-person presence required based on business needs.
