Description

Founding Software Engineer
Seed · Biotech (consumer health)
Onsite in New York

An early-stage biotech company with a live product and real paying customers, now hiring its first dedicated engineer. You'd own the consumer product end to end, mobile for patients, web for clinicians, and the technical decisions that shape how it all scales. Direct line to the founders, with a clear path into engineering leadership as the team grows.

What you'll do

  • Own the full consumer journey, from onboarding through to insights and recommendations

  • Build polished, production-ready web and mobile experiences alongside the founding designer

  • Run customer research regularly and turn feedback into real product changes

  • Use analytics to spot friction and sharpen the key user flows

  • Help define and prioritise the product roadmap directly with the founders

  • Make the architecture and build-vs-buy calls as the platform scales

  • Work with early customers, designers and medical advisors as the product expands into clinical workflows

What we're looking for

  • 5-8 years of engineering experience, including time at a startup or fast-moving team

  • Real ownership before, a codebase, a launch, a product area you can point to

  • Comfortable going from Figma to shipped code without a PM in the loop

  • Have built mobile apps before and know what a great phone experience takes

  • Curious by nature, asks "why" as much as "how"

  • Strong in React/React Native and Python, full-stack with a product mindset

  • Comfortable using AI coding tools daily to move faster, not as a crutch

  • Experience shipping consumer apps in high-stakes settings where you can't afford to break things

  • Bonus: background in health, biotech or consumer health tech

Why join?

  • First engineering hire at an early-stage company with a live, paying product

  • Direct access to the founders and real influence over the product direction

  • Clear path to engineering leadership as the team scales
